Why I Do the MS Walk

I'm a neurologist, but that's not why I do the MS Walk and am a team captain. I do these things because of my two beloved relatives with MS (one who has sadly passed away). If I could snap my fingers and cure them, I would. But I can't. The next best thing I can do is to help to raise a lot of money for research, treatment, and support services to help people with MS. When I'm at a meeting of the American Academy of Neurology, I go to sessions about MS, and I've seen wonderful research presentations where, at the end, the researcher acknowledged support from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. I've said that I'm fortunate among team captains - not only do I help to raise money, but I get to see the good uses to which it's being put.

Team Hot Flashes

The Hot Flashes MS Walk team began in 2000, with four people doing the Westchester MS Walk at Rye Playland. We have grown considerably since then; in our biggest year, we had over 300 team members and were the # 8 MS Walk fundraising team in the entire country. In some years we also had contingents at the Rockland or Manhattan MS Walks. In the 24 years in which we have participated in the MS Walk (from 2000 through 2023), the Hot Flashes team has raised a total of almost $740,000, but we want to raise a lot more - a lot has been accomplished in the fight against multiple sclerosis, but there's still a lot to be done. This will be the team's 25th consecutive year doing the MS Walk.  Please join us!
