Eric Lenard

I was diagnosed with MS a little more than 10 years ago in 2013 and that started my health journey. After relocating to California in 2019 and being quarantined due to COVID-19 and my immunosuppressed status, I adopted walking and running on my treadmill to stay sane. And I discovered that I really liked it! Once I started getting into running, I realized that when I was first diagnosed, I could barely walk and now I’m actually logging 25-30 miles a week! Once COVID waned and I was allowed to be around people again, I decided to take this newly found passion and turn it into something meaningful.

I am excited to run with Finish MS to challenge myself like never before, run for a great cause and most importantly, make my momma proud!

Finish MS has made a huge difference and my MS journey. It gave me confidence when I was afraid, it gave me something to focus on that is actually positive, it reminded me of how grateful I am that my body is able to run long distances and it connected me with people that are just like me that understand what it’s like to have this disease.

I started running soon after I was diagnosed with MS in 2007. I never enjoyed running but, suddenly threatened by a disease that could take away my ability to do so, I was inspired to train for a local 5K just because I could.

Stephanie McLaughlin

“You’ll never run a marathon,” said my neurologist in 2010, soon after I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The doctor was trying to convince me that I would be able to enjoy a fulfilling life with proper therapy and medication, but that I might have certain limitations. At that time, she never knew that running a marathon had been a lifelong dream of mine.
