Route Markings
We make every effort to ensure you won’t get lost.
Directional Signs: The route will be clearly marked with orange (yellow on the century loop) directional signs at all turns and along straightaways. Directional signs at turns will include a warning and reassurance marking.
Directional signs include posted paper arrows and painted ‘MS’ markings on the pavement.
- 25, 40 & 75 Mile Route = Orange
- Century Loop = Yellow (only for the extra 25 mile loop)
Mileage (1,2,3…) Signs: are placed at every mile along the route north and south. Utilize these markers if/when calling in for medical or mechanical experience.
Medical Support & Emergency Assistance
Emergency medical support travels the entire route in the event that a cyclist may be injured. First aid stations will also be available at each rest stop.
Contact the number on your wristband (included in your rider number packet) 609-398-4156 during the ride if you need assistance or spot an accident.
Dial 911 in case of a medical emergency.
Help us provide top-notch first aid by completing the back of your rider number.
Support and Gear (SAG) Vehicles
Just can’t push another pedal, or just need a ride to the next stop? These van & truck duos rove the route and rest stops to transport you and your bike.
If you need a pickup, flip your bike upside down and give a ‘thumbs-down’ signal as the SAG vehicle approaches.
- NOTE: The trip into the finish line is not always direct. Be patient as we pick up other cyclists in need. If you only want a ride to the next rest stop, let the driver know. Always remember to thank your driver, who is volunteering his or her time for the weekend to support you.
- Personal SAG Vehicles PROHIBITED. Personal SAG vehicles are not permitted on the route. Please understand our need to cut down on vehicular traffic for YOUR SAFETY.
- No trailers, tagalongs or child carriers are allowed on the route per the Society’s Youth Riders policy.
Bike Mechanical Support
City to Shore Sponsoring Bike Shops will be located at all start locations, the rest stops and roving along the route to provide minor repairs.
If you need assistance, flip your bike upside down and give a ‘thumbs-down’ as a bike shop mechanical vehicle approaches.
- Get your bike inspected August 15 through September 19 to ensure free mechanical support ride weekend. Click here for more details.
Other Route Support
Road Marshals
These motorcycle volunteers can be found at "trouble" intersections and along the route. They monitor and guide cyclist traffic but are not permitted to stop vehicular traffic. When you see a road marshal volunteer, ride with caution. They’ll be wearing orange vests and waving orange flags so you can’t miss them.
Communications Team
Communications volunteers are stationed along the route. If you encounter an accident or other emergency, let the communications volunteer know. They are easy to spot: just look for a car with a really big antenna! Note: These volunteers are there for communication purposes and are not permitted to direct traffic.
Police & Communities Who Welcome Us
Please be respectful of the communities that support and welcome Bike MS! Their hospitality makes this event possible. Every effort is made to keep you safe. Where possible, local law enforcement agencies have been recruited to help you travel safely through intersections and on shared roadways.
Be courteous, as they help you travel safely through their communities. Visit the Training & Prep page for more details on safe and courteous cycling behavior.
Staff
Bike MS staff and key volunteers will be monitoring the route.
We know you have some additional questions, and this will be the place where we can answer them! More Know Before You Go information will be coming soon, so check back often so you don’t miss anything.
Stay tuned for updates and additional information coming September 29!
