We're cycling toward a world free of MS.
How did the Central City Cyclers get their name?
Peoria, Illinois is a city of unusual contrast. It has been both a bastion of conservatism and a beacon of innovation. One of its major contributions to American history was a progressive attitude toward bicycles in the 1800s. Peoria was the Mecca of bicycle racing at one time, where many world records for cycling speed were broken and international cycling champions were defeated. Peoria became widely known as the hub of the cycling world, for we had a number of factories that manufactured excellent bicycles of national acclaim. Peoria's place in bicycling history is something all Peorians can be proud of and it merits special attention. Few people today realize how much excitement and controversy was generated by bicycles and the cycling sports in the late 1800s.
Situated at nearly equal distances from Chicago and St. Louis, Peoria was commonly referred to as the Central City. Hence the name Central City Cyclers was born. We’ve formed a team for Bike MS Tour de Farms, a ride that raises funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. This organization has paved the way for every effective MS treatment available today — the Society is the best investment in reaching a cure for multiple sclerosis.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a devastating, unpredictable disease and no one should face it alone. Every mile we pedal and every dollar we raise brings us closer to a world free of MS. We are preparing to go the distance with our training and commitment to end MS! We invite you to be part of this incredible experience by joining our team or donating to support our efforts! We’ve set an ambitious goal because we know that with support from people like you, we can get there.
Make a difference today. Donate and help us reach our goal.
A Cure is on the Line!
