Support Along the Route
- Rest Stops Each route includes fully stocked rest stops every 10 to 15 miles with some of the best snacks and volunteers around. Relax, hydrate, use the restroom, re-apply sunscreen and enjoy the volunteers. Bike mechanics and support and gear (SAG) vehicles will also be on the route to assist you.
- Route Markings We make every effort to ensure you won't get lost. The routes will be clearly marked with directional signs, including on straightaways, so you will know you're riding in the right direction.
- Route Closing: The Bike MS road routes will close at 5 PM on Saturday and 3 PM on Sunday. The century route will close at mile 53 on Saturday at 12:30 and remaining cyclists will be diverted to a shorter route. All cyclists on the road after 5 PM on Saturday and 3 PM on Sunday must take a SAG to the finish line. The mountain bike and family friendly routes will close at 3 PM on Saturday and 12 PM on Sunday.
- SAG Vehicles Just can't push another pedal, or just need a ride to the next stop? Support And Gear (SAG) vehicles rove the route and rest stops. Call the number on your wristband and look for the first SAG to come your way. Give the thumbs-down signal if you want to be picked up. You and your bike will be transported.
NOTE: The trip into the finish line is not always direct. Be patient as we pick up other cyclists in need. If you only want a ride to the next rest stop, let the driver know. Always remember to thank your driver, who is volunteering his or her time for the weekend to support you.
- Personal SAG Vehicles PROHIBITED Personal SAG vehicles are not permitted on the route. Please understand our need to cut down on vehicular traffic for YOUR SAFETY. Bicycle tagalongs, trailers and carriers are not allowed on the route.
- Mechanical Support Visit one of the bike shops listed on the Bike Shops page to receive your Bike MS inspection sticker which will ensure you and your bike are ready for Bike MS! Bike Safety Inspections are provided at NO COST, can be used to ensure your bike is in good working orders and can be performed beginning in July. With this sticker, you are eligible for FREE labor (parts and materials are available for an extra charge) if you need any mechanical repairs during the event.
Mechanical Problems: If you encounter a mechanical problem while riding and need assistance, move completely off to the side of the road and call the number on your wristband for assistance.
We’ll have several opportunities for you to capture memories of 2024 Bike MS: Tour to Tanglewood. Be sure to get your picture taken at the Photo Areas, Sponsored by Cone Health.
Ride photos will be posted on our Bike MS Flickr shortly after the ride. We will share the link here when photos are ready! Be sure to check out our 2023 Bike MS: Tour to Tanglewood photos here.
We’ll post information about where to find event weekend photos and our Post Ride Celebration and Awards Party (tentatively scheduled for the week of December 9th-13th) here once it is ready.
We’re moving! New in 2024, we are relocating the Team Village to the Peter S Brunstetter Aquatic Center parking lot.
We know it takes many people to pull this ride together. From volunteers, donors who write the checks, family members who support cyclists’ training and fundraising, to those living with MS who motivate and inspire… so many individuals working together toward a world free of MS. And what better way to celebrate a team’s accomplishment than to gather these individuals under one tent at the ride to toast a team’s progress to a world free of MS! The Team Tent Village is one of the best parts of the Bike MS experience!
Renting vs BYOT (Bring your own tent):
Reservation date TBA
RENT: Teams have the option of renting through the Bike MS tent vendor. Pricing and vendor will be determined closer to the event.
BRING YOUR OWN: Teams are welcome to bring their own pop-up tent free of charge but MUST have a way of securing the tent safely to the ground with weights. Feel free to bring your own tables and chairs. We’ll provide a space for you to set up your tent.
Post Ride Awards: Join us as we celebrate our current Top 10 Teams and Fundraisers and announce our Tour to Tanglewood Awards for Top Rookies, Best Team Tent, Spirit of the Ride and many others.
Electricity & Food:
Electricity: There are limited outlets at the aquatic center. Please plan to have an alternate method of charging your devices while in the Team Tent Village.
Food: Food will be provided in the Team Tent Village for participants, volunteers, event sponsors and individuals living with MS. Meal wristbands may be purchased on site for family and guests.
